bulletThis file (DUQlogins&linksFA08.doc (569 Kb) contains links and bookmarks to the index page of over 200 electronic journals useful for leadership studies. Peer-reviewed journals are indicated by an asterisk. The links route users not on Duquesne's campus network to a library server for authentication as a Duquesne University library patron. Each URL would have to be changed for use by another academic library. This file is shared as template for adaptation. Its value to leadership students is in its utility as a starting point for making maximum use of library electronic resources on leadership.
bulletA series of five webinars is offered each semester to new graduate students in leadership. The first webinar demonstrates the features and use of the above set of quicklinks, and the second webinar orients students to electronic resources on and navigation of the Duquesne Library Web site.
bulletThe webinars were evaluated by means of a Web survey. See survey questions and summary results.
bullet This file contains links to over 100 special journal issues and research review articles on dozens of leadership-related topics. Articles in special issues (and references cited in them) often provide a good starting point for a bibliographic search. (URLs require Duquesne authentication.) (232 Kb) Note: *.htm files can be edited in MS Word. Save to your hard drive, then open them from within Word. Edit hyperlinks using the CTRL + K command. Save again as a "Web page, filtered."
bullet This file illustrates how subject heading classifications for the same article in EBSCOhost and ProQuest differ - important when searching in a database.
bulletA book review assignment was used to enhance graduate students' ability to critically consume leadership literature. See also the assignment guidelines, a grading rubric, and sample student paper. A book list containing over 70 recommended titles was compiled in 2006 by four Duquesne faculty members, whose names are at the bottom of the list; their contribution is hereby acknowledged. (274 Kb) The list provides links to the amazon.com page for each book, and also indicates which books are available in e-book format through Duquesne's Library.
bullet Links to Leadership Resources on the World Wide Web. Compiled by Jim Wolford-Ulrich and revised Nov. 11, 2008. (256 Kb) Students are taught to critically evaluate leadership sources on the Web, e.g., see this page.
